Rustle Bustle

Seems like we all juggle lots of things: kids schedules with sports, practices, dr appointments, work responsibilities, relationship stuff, . . . the hustle, bustle & rustle of everyday living.
In all of these things, let’s be mindful to nurture in our hearts our relationship with Jesus. Lots of things want your attention so we must daily chose to fellowship with Jesus beyond the quickie “help!!!” requests. While these are important & good, our hearts are designed for deep fellowship with Jesus so lets yield to our design & align our values, focus & time to nurture the deeps with Jesus!

who does that?!?!!!

The world in which we live has some people who do some really crazy things – holding their breath for multiple minutes for deep water diving, wrestling with aligators, playing polo with a sheep head & lots of even crazier things!  Who does that kind of stuff???

Here’s a quiz.  Who does this kind of stuff?

  • disagrees with the religious & cultural norms
  • touches disease infested people, endeavoring to make them better
  • welcomes everyone who is ostracized, outcast and isolated
  • seemingly abandons his friends at the very worst possible time
  • does everything within his power to help people, even when they’re ungrateful

Guess who???

hot topic: flirting

flirt

Flirting is an interesting concept.  It can be a playful and teasing way to interact with people, but from personal experience (back in the day), it became tiring really fast.  Flirting felt like a game to me, a relational game that had very high stakes.  When I look up “flirt”, it means to act amorously without serious intentions.  Sometimes, I think we flirt with God:  we go to church, sing love songs to God, dress up and act like we love God, but we don’t have any serious intentions of making a long term commitment (except when there’s some appealing benefit or carrot that keeps us engaged).  Flirting means that we get to pretend without any promises, chat without any change and be shallow without any sacrifice.  Let’s be serious about our relationship with God, keep our promises, change and make sacrifices all with God’s Help working throughout out daily living 🙂

Jesus Chick

What’s it like to be a crazy woman, living in a time when women were considered almost subhuman & without any protection, security nor steady income? Meet Mary Magdalene – a women from whom Jesus cast out 7 demons (über crazy). We don’t know lots about Mary except that she was part of a group of women who followed & supported Jesus for much of His ministry on earth.
But here’s the cool part for Mary – Jesus chose Mary to be the first person to whom He revealed Himself when He rose from the dead. Jesus chose a formerly crazy woman, who seemed not to have anything noteworthy about her except that she had 7 demons cast out of her. He chose to appear to Mary first & announce His resurrection from the dead. Jesus could’ve chosen Peter or Nicodemus, John or even His mom, but He didn’t. To me, this says that Jesus values people who have been broken & not only the those people who seem to be more important or significant 🙂

You’re already cool!!

From time to time I get in situations where I don’t feel very cool – maybe I’m in a group of people who are smarter than me or more trendy or maybe I’m just a newcomer among a group of old friends. For whatever reason we can all feel uncool from time to time & the key word here is “feel”. The reason I say this is because God always knows that you’re cool regardless of how you feel. You are very significant & important in God’s so this makes you always cool!

some timeless & unchanging encouragment

I’ve been praying about what to write about today & I feel strongly impressed to share some truths that never change.  These truths are about you.  You are:

  • significant and important – because of Who made you, you are a VIP.  Your title, achievements, awards, etc are not what make you significant & important, even though they can help you to feel this truth.  But remember that you are significant & important regardless of how you feel
  • valuable and highly treasured – for the simple reason that God loves you, this makes you valuable
  • you have purpose – there are MANY reasons for your existence & you have lots of assignments that God has put into your life.  From God’s perspective, all of the purposes & assignments in your life are important – none are insignificant nor trivial

Please be encouraged today by these timeless & unchanging truths & may they continually remind you of the Father’s immeasurable love for you that pervades the entirety of our lives 🙂
